Kirsten was born in Cork (Ireland) into a musical family and started playing the piano at the age of 5.
She received her Master of Music degree from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in June 2015, where she studied with professor Naum Grubert. Prior to studying in Amsterdam, she studied Piano Performance with Prof. Elena Lapitzkaja at the Universität der Künste, Berlin, after having spent over a year at Eastman School of Music, Rochester New York, studying with Prof. Barry Snyder, where she was the recipient of both the Howard Hanson and McLaughlin scholarships.
From 2002-2003 she was accepted for a period of study as a “young student” with Prof. Arbo Valdma, piano, and Prof. Maria Kliegel, cello, at the Hochschule für Musik, Cologne.
Kirsten gave her debut John Field Room solo recital at the National Concert Hall in October, 2004. Other concert performances include those at the West Cork Chamber Music Festival in Bantry, a recital with cellist, Matthew Huber, in London, the lunchtime recital series at the Triskel Arts Centre, Cork, the Boyle Arts Festival and Boyle Arts Week and the Siemens Feis Ceoil Young Platform series at the National Concert Hall, Dublin. Kirsten performed Schubert's Trout Quintet with the RTE Vanbrugh Quartet at their Concert in Aid of the Vanbrugh String Quartet Scholarship Fund, at the Aula Maxima, University College Cork.
She performs regularly as part of a piano-duo with her sister, Rebecca Čápová. The duo have performed in venues in Ireland, Italy and Germany.
Kirsten has taken part in masterclasses with many world-renowned pianists, including Philip Martin, Hugh Tinney, Ewa Poblocka, Alicja Fiderkiewicz, Tatiana Zelikman, Fanny Waterman, Marcel Baudet, Pascal Roge, Barry Douglas, Jiří Hlinka, John Perry and Boris Petrushansky.
